EP Ecommerce Gifts

EP Ecommerce Gifts lets your customers buy a membership as a gift for someone else. It works with EP Ecommerce and EP Membership.

Overview

• “This is a gift” at checkout for any membership product you switch on. The buyer gives the recipient’s name and email, can add a personal message, and can choose the day it is sent.
• The recipient gets the membership, not the buyer. When the payment goes through, the recipient is emailed a link to claim it, and the buyer gets a copy of the link.
• Claiming is simple. The recipient signs in, or has an account made for them in one click, and claims the gift. The membership starts that day and lasts its full length.
• Each link works once. You can resend a link (to a corrected address) or revoke a gift from the Gifts list. Revoking never refunds the order.
• Refunds are handled. A refund before the gift is claimed cancels the link. After it is claimed, the membership is taken back as for any refunded order.
• Data requests covered. With EP GDPR, a person’s export includes the gifts they gave and received, and an erasure removes their details from those records.

Requirements

• PageMotor 0.11.5
• EP Ecommerce 0.1.50 or later
• EP Membership for the sign-in page (recommended)
• EP Cron (optional): sends dated gifts every 5 minutes. Without it, dated gifts go out when your site next has visitors.

Installation

1. Install EP Ecommerce first.
2. ep-ecommerce-gifts.zip comes with an EP Suite licence, supplied directly by ElmsPark (see EP Suite plugins); after install it updates through your site’s Updates screen.
3. Upload via Plugins → Manage Plugins. Activate.

Setting up

1. In EP Ecommerce Gifts’ settings, tick Can be bought as a gift for each membership you want to offer.
2. That is all. The claim page (/claim-gift/) is created the first time a gift is sent. To use your own page, put [ep-gift-claim] on it and enter its address in Claim Page.

For your AI assistant

Administrators can use these actions through your site’s API and MCP connection: list-gifts, resend-gift, revoke-gift, list-gift-products, set-gift-product and send-due-gifts.

Revoking never refunds; refunds stay in EP Ecommerce. Your AI assistant can do the same, administrators only.
