EP Video
EP Video puts video calls on your own PageMotor site. You get a permanent room link you can give to anyone, one-off private call links, a host screen with screen sharing and a camera framing studio, and written notes after every call. Calls run on Daily, a video service built for this kind of use.
Published by ElmsPark Studio.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”- Your room. A permanent link,
yoursite.com/meet/. Guests open it, type their name and wait at the door. You hear a chime and see a card saying who is waiting, with Let in and Deny. - Waiting room alerts. If someone knocks while you are not in your room, EP Video emails you, and can text you by iMessage, with a link that opens your room. The alert repeats (“still waiting, 3 min”) until you join, so one missed buzz does not leave a guest stranded. A guest alone in a private call gets you the same alerts. Guests stop waiting after 15 minutes, so a forgotten guest does not run up your Daily minutes.
- Private calls. A one-off link for one meeting. It lets the guest straight in, with no waiting room, and works for 24 hours.
- Host screen. Your side of the call, at
yoursite.com/meet-host/, for site admins only:- a camera framing studio: zoom, move, warmth and brightness, with an eye-line and chin-line guide that only you see. Guests receive the framed picture;
- background blur (Soft, Medium or Strong), done on your own computer or phone;
- Touch up my appearance (Light, Medium or Strong): a gentle smoothing of the skin on your face, like Zoom’s option of the same name, done on your own device;
- a private test room to check your camera, microphone and blur before a real call;
- a phone-friendly layout: the camera’s full view, an upright picture when you hold the phone upright, and lists instead of sliders;
- screen sharing, yours and your guests’;
- more than one guest at a time: your first guest, or whoever you click, stays large and everyone else sits in a strip, a shared screen takes the main view, and whoever is talking gets a green frame (the picture never jumps from person to person);
- chat with everyone on the call, with clickable links;
- icon buttons that say what they do when you point at them: a green border means a function is on, red means you are muted or your camera is off;
- side by side or guest-large layouts, a self view you can drag to any corner, mute, camera, full screen, and camera, microphone and speaker choice.
- Nothing for guests to install. They join in their browser, can share their screen, and chat from the Chat button in their call screen. A guest who arrives before you sees a card saying you will be with them shortly; it moves to the bar above the call as soon as they click anything in the call.
- Call notes. The call is transcribed, and guests see a line telling them so. Choose Daily’s transcription (nothing to set up) or your own Mac (free, and the audio never goes to a transcription company). When you leave, Claude writes a summary, the decisions made, action items with who owns them, open questions and details worth keeping. Read them on your host screen, copy them, have them emailed to you, or press Listen to hear them read aloud: by your browser’s best voice, or by a natural voice made free on your Mac. Anything typed in the chat goes into the notes too. Pause notes at any point during a call for an off-the-record moment.
- Notes arrive promptly. Daily tells your site the moment a call ends or its transcript is ready, so notes do not wait for a background check.
- One click to start. The host screen installs as an app from your browser (Chrome’s Install or Safari’s Add to Dock), so your room is one click away, like a desktop video app.
What it does not do
Section titled “What it does not do”- Remote control. A browser cannot let one person control another person’s computer. Keep another tool for remote support.
- Recording video. Notes come from a transcript. No video is recorded.
- Joining other people’s calls. Meetings that others host on Zoom, Teams or Google Meet stay in those apps.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- PageMotor 0.11 or later, with PHP 8.1+ and cURL.
- A Daily account. Sign up free at dashboard.daily.co. The first 10,000 participant minutes each month cost nothing; a one-hour call between two people uses 120.
- A card on your Daily account for call notes. Live transcription is a paid Daily feature, about $0.006 per person per minute.
- An Anthropic API key for written notes, from console.anthropic.com. An hour-long call costs a few cents. Without a key you still get the transcript.
- Optional: EP Email to email notes and waiting room alerts to you, and EP Cron to finish notes in the background.
- Optional, for free transcription and iMessage alerts: a Mac that stays switched on, with Homebrew. See Transcribing on your own Mac.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”ep-video.zipcomes with an EP Suite licence. ElmsPark supplies it directly (see EP Suite plugins); after install it updates through your site’s Updates screen.- Upload via Plugins → Manage Plugins. Activate.
- Open Plugin Settings → EP Video.
Setting up
Section titled “Setting up”EP Video settings open on Daily, with three buttons. Each opens the right Daily page in a new tab and ticks itself off when it is done.
- Create a free Daily account. Sign up with your email or Google. The first 10,000 participant minutes each month are free.
- Add a card in Daily. Daily will not start any call on an account without a card, even inside the free minutes. You pay only past them.
- Copy your API key. Press the copy button next to the key in Daily, then paste it into the Daily API key box. EP Video checks it with Daily and saves it straight away; there is nothing else to press.
Straight after the key is saved, EP Video makes a silent test call: no camera, no microphone, nothing anyone sees. It tells you either that your account can make calls, or that Daily needs a card, with a button to add one. Run it again any time with Check my account can make calls.
Then, in Call notes, paste your Anthropic API key and save. The box at the top of the settings shows your two links. Bookmark the host screen link, or open it and install it as an app.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”- Daily API key. Stored encrypted.
- Check my account can make calls. A silent test call that shows whether Daily will start calls on your account. It catches a missing card before a guest does.
- Test connection. Checks the key with Daily, and registers your site with Daily for instant updates.
- Instant updates. Daily tells your site the moment a call ends, a transcript is ready or someone is waiting. It needs your site on https and a card on your Daily account. Tick Turn instant updates from Daily off to stop it; notes and alerts still arrive, on the regular 15-minute check. System Status shows whether instant updates are on.
- Your name on calls. Shown to guests and used in your notes. Blank uses your account name.
- Room name. The heading guests see, for example “Kenn’s room”.
- Room address. The last part of your room link. The default is
meet, so your room is/meet/and your host screen is/meet-host/. Pick a word no page on your site already uses. - Waiting room alerts. Email me when someone is waiting in my room and I am not in it. Needs EP Email.
- Keep alerting me while they wait. Every 30 seconds (the default), every minute, every 2 or 5 minutes, or once only. Repeats stop when you join, when the guest leaves, or after 20 minutes (or the waiting limit below, if that is shorter). It also covers private calls: a guest alone in one, from when its link opens, gets you the same alerts, naming the call and linking straight to it.
- Send those emails to. Blank uses the email on the account that last opened your room.
- Also text me by iMessage at. A mobile number with its country code, or an Apple ID email. Sent by the EP Video helper on your Mac, usually within 30 seconds.
- Guests stop waiting after (minutes). Default 15. Waiting time counts as participant minutes on your Daily bill, so after this long the guest is told you could not make it and their page leaves the room. 0 lets them wait until they give up.
- Link preview image. The picture shown when your room or call link is pasted into WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack or an email. 1200 by 630 pixels. Empty uses the picture that comes with EP Video.
- Turn my permanent room off. Private calls still work.
Branding
Section titled “Branding”Your call pages match your site automatically: the theme’s colours and fonts, and your site favicon as the logo. Fill these in only to use something different.
- Logo. Upload a logo for the host screen and the guest page. A square icon works best.
- Brand colour. A hex colour such as
#3A5140. Empty uses the EP Suite brand colour, or else your theme’s link colour. It is adjusted automatically so text stays readable. - Font stylesheet, heading font name, text font name. A Bunny Fonts stylesheet link and the family names in it. Empty uses your theme’s fonts.
Call notes
Section titled “Call notes”- Turn call notes off. No transcription at all.
- Where the transcript comes from. Daily (the default, about $0.006 per person per minute, nothing to set up) or My own Mac (free and private, needs the EP Video helper).
- Set up the EP Video helper on a Mac. Shows the two lines the helper needs: your site address and its private key.
- Anthropic API key. Stored encrypted.
- Claude model. Blank uses Claude Sonnet.
- Language spoken on calls. Used for the transcription.
- How you like your notes. Optional instructions, for example “British English, keep it short”.
- Natural voice. Your Mac reads each call’s notes aloud once with Kokoro, a free open voice model, and Listen plays that recording. Needs the EP Video helper installed with
--voice(see Transcribing on your own Mac). - Voice. Which natural voice: eight British (four female, four male) or two American.
- Email me the notes. Needs EP Email.
- Keep transcripts and notes for. Older ones are cleared once a day. The default is 90 days; 0 keeps them until you delete them.
- Keep Daily’s copy. By default Daily’s copy of each transcript is deleted as soon as it is saved on your site.
Transcribing on your own Mac
Section titled “Transcribing on your own Mac”With My own Mac, your host screen records each person’s voice separately while the call runs and uploads it to your site’s protected folder. The EP Video helper, a small program on a Mac, checks your site every 30 seconds, collects the audio, turns it into text with Whisper on that Mac, and sends the text back. Your site then deletes the audio and Claude writes the notes. An hour-long call takes a few minutes on an Apple silicon Mac.
To set it up:
- In Call notes, set Where the transcript comes from to My own Mac and save.
- Open Set up the EP Video helper on a Mac and copy the two lines.
- On the Mac, copy the
helperfolder from the plugin (it is insideep-videoin your plugins folder) and runbash install-helper.sh. The first run installs whisper.cpp and ffmpeg with Homebrew, downloads the Whisper model (about 550 MB), and creates a settings file. - Paste your two lines into that file, at
~/.config/elmspark/ep-video-helper.env, and runbash install-helper.shagain.
For the natural voice on Listen, run bash install-helper.sh --voice instead. It adds Kokoro (about 350 MB) in its own folder, and the helper then voices each call’s notes once, a few seconds after they are written. Turn on Natural voice under Call notes.
The helper starts with the Mac, so keep that Mac switched on and signed in. If no helper collects a call within a day, its audio is deleted and the call is marked as failed.
iMessage alerts use the Messages app on the same Mac. Sign Messages in to an Apple ID, and enter the number or Apple ID that should receive alerts under Room. Use a different Apple ID on the Mac from the one on your phone: a message from your own Apple ID to yourself may arrive without an alert.
Using it
Section titled “Using it”To meet in your room: open your host screen and choose Open my room. Check your camera, frame yourself and press Join the call. Give guests your room link; when one arrives, press Let in.
To make a private call: on your host screen, type what the call is about (optional) and press Create a private call. Copy or email the link to your guest, then press Join now.
To test your camera and microphone: on your host screen, open Test my camera and microphone. Only you are in this room: nothing is recorded and nobody gets a link, unless you press Go live there to rehearse a stream. It closes after 30 minutes. Talk normally and watch the Microphone level bar; it should move with your voice and stay mostly green. Try your framing and Blur my background, then press Join the call to see yourself as guests will. On a Mac, Open my Mac’s microphone settings goes straight to the input level in System Settings.
To blur your background: choose Soft, Medium or Strong next to Blur my background, under your picture before you join, or in Settings during a call. Your choice is remembered on that device. The first time, it takes a few seconds to get ready.
To touch up your appearance: choose Light, Medium or Strong next to Touch up my appearance, just below the blur choice. It gently smooths the skin on your face, while your eyes, hair and the edges of your face stay sharp, and it never touches the room behind you. You can use it with blur or without. Your choice is remembered on that device. It works on your own picture only: your guests join through Daily’s call screen, which has no touch-up option. If your device cannot run it, a note under the list says so and your picture is shown as it is.
On a phone: hold the phone upright and your own picture is upright too; Side by side puts your guest on top and you below. The framing controls are lists rather than sliders, so a stray touch does not change them.
During a call: Share screen shares a window, a tab or your whole screen. Notes on (or Recording for notes with My own Mac) in the top bar shows notes are running; click it to pause and again to resume. Copy guest link is there too, in case someone loses it. Chat opens a chat along the bottom; a number on the button counts messages you have not read yet. Click anyone in the strip to make them the large picture.
After a call: press Leave. Your notes appear on screen within a minute or so (with My own Mac, once your Mac has collected the call), and stay on your host screen under Recent calls, with the full transcript and the chat. Listen plays the natural voice if your Mac made one, or reads the notes with your browser’s best voice; a menu next to it picks another voice and remembers your choice. On a Mac, free higher-quality voices are under System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > System voice > Manage Voices. Nothing is sent to a voice company either way.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”- Guests are told on the call page that the call is transcribed (or, with My own Mac, recorded and transcribed) and that the chat is saved.
- While notes are on, the chat is kept with the call and cleared with the transcript. Messages sent while notes are off are not kept.
- No video is recorded. With Daily transcription no audio is recorded either. With My own Mac, each person’s audio is kept in your site’s protected folder only until your Mac has transcribed it, then deleted, and it never goes to a transcription company.
- Background blur and touch-up happen on your own device; your picture is never sent anywhere to be changed. The first time you turn it on, your browser fetches Google’s free MediaPipe library and model from jsDelivr and Google.
- Transcripts, chat and notes are stored on your own site and cleared after the period you set.
- Daily’s copy of each transcript is deleted once it is saved on your site, unless you choose to keep it.
- The transcript and chat are sent to Anthropic to write the notes. Daily and Anthropic act as processors for your call data; mention them in your privacy notice.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting””Video calls are not set up yet” on the room page
Section titled “”Video calls are not set up yet” on the room page”The Daily API key is missing or wrong. Paste it again in Daily and press Test connection.
”Notes are unavailable: Daily refused transcription”
Section titled “”Notes are unavailable: Daily refused transcription””Your Daily account has no card on it. Add one under Billing in the Daily dashboard, then open your room again.
Notes say “No transcript”
Section titled “Notes say “No transcript””Nobody spoke while notes were on, or notes were paused for the whole call.
Notes stay on “Your Mac is turning the call into text”
Section titled “Notes stay on “Your Mac is turning the call into text””The helper has not collected the call yet. Check the Mac is on and signed in, and look at ~/Library/Logs/elmspark/ep-video-helper.log on it. A “Wrong helper key” line means the key in the helper’s settings file does not match the one in Call notes.

Changelog
Section titled “Changelog”0.19.0
Section titled “0.19.0”- Touch up my appearance. A new choice on your host screen, under Blur my background: Off, Light, Medium or Strong. Like Zoom’s touch-up, it gently smooths the skin on your face while your eyes, hair and edges stay sharp, and the room behind you is left alone. It is done on your own computer or phone, works with or without blur, and your choice is remembered on that device. It is for your own picture only: guests join through Daily’s call screen, which has no touch-up option.
0.18.1
Section titled “0.18.1”- New versions show straight away. After an update, the calls page and the call screens now load the new version at once. Before, your browser could keep showing the previous version’s look until it refreshed its own copy.
- The right version number. EP Video’s status, which your AI assistant can read, now reports the version you have installed.
0.18.0
Section titled “0.18.0”- Fold away what you do not need. Every card on the calls page now folds from its heading: Today, free minutes, your room, the test room, new private call and Recent calls. The page remembers which you folded, so it opens the way you left it.
- Tidy Recent calls in one go. Press Tidy, tick the calls, then Empty them (the transcript, notes, chat, follow-ups and answers go, and the call stays on the list) or Remove them (gone for good). It always asks first and emails nobody. A call in progress, still to come, or still having its notes written is left alone, with the reason under it.
- Ask your guests a few questions first. Add up to eight questions in EP Video settings, under Call notes. Guests on a scheduled call answer them when they open their link, before joining, or skip them. Their answers show on the call’s card and go into its notes. Calls you start straight away never ask.
- Invite people again in one press. The schedule form lists the guests you have invited before. Press one to add them.
0.17.1
Section titled “0.17.1”- Call links last as long as they should. When a booking or event changes time, its call link keeps the new end even if Daily cannot be reached at that moment, and the call room is brought up to date when someone opens the link.
- Finished calls stay finished. Editing an event or booking that is already over no longer reopens its call link, and moving an open one to a time already past closes it.
0.17.0
Section titled “0.17.0”- Setting up Daily is three buttons and a paste. EP Video settings, under Daily, now have three buttons that open the exact Daily pages: create your free account, add a card, copy your API key. Each ticks itself off once it is done.
- Paste the key and you are done. EP Video checks the key with Daily the moment you paste it and saves it straight away. A key Daily does not accept is refused in plain words and not saved.
- Know your account can make calls before a guest arrives. Straight after the key is saved, EP Video makes a silent test call. Daily will not start any call on an account without a card, and until now you only found out when a call failed. Now the test call says so at once, with a button to add the card, and your calls page shows the same warning until it is fixed.
- System Status shows whether your Daily account can make calls.
0.16.1
Section titled “0.16.1”- The test room says so when you stream. You can press Go live in the test room to rehearse a stream with nobody else in the call. Its note now says nothing is recorded and nobody gets a link “unless you press Go live”, and if you did stream, Test finished says your stream has ended.
0.16.0
Section titled “0.16.0”- Go live. A new Go live button in your call sends the call to YouTube, to a player on your own site, or to any service that takes a stream, up to three at once. Daily mixes everyone into one picture and sends it out in full HD.
- Pick the picture. Side by side for an interview, Speaker large, Everyone in a grid, or Just me. You can switch while you are live, and a shared screen always comes first.
- Your branding on the stream. People’s names on their pictures, and a title bar along the bottom in your brand colour, with a second line and your logo (a PNG) in it. Change the title while you are live.
- Always clear when you are live. A red LIVE timer sits at the top of your call screen. Leave stops the stream for you.
- Your stream keys stay private. Add each place to send it under Live streaming in EP Video settings. Stream keys are stored encrypted, and guests in the call never see them.
- Cost. Streaming costs about $0.90 an hour while you are live, billed by Daily. It needs a card on your Daily account.
0.15.0
Section titled “0.15.0”- Test my camera and microphone. A new card on your calls page opens a room with only you in it. You see your picture, a microphone level bar that moves with your voice, and on a Mac a button to your microphone settings. Nothing is recorded, nobody gets a link, and the room closes after 30 minutes.
- Blur my background. Choose Soft, Medium or Strong under your picture, before you join or in Settings. It works on computers and phones alike, and the blur is done on your own device. If blur ever fails, you are shown sharp, never fully blurred.
- Keep alerting me while they wait. When someone is waiting and you are not in, the alert now repeats (“still waiting, 3 min”) until you join, they leave, or 20 minutes pass. Choose how often under Waiting room alerts. It covers private calls too.
- Better on a phone. A phone shows its camera’s full view instead of a tight crop. Held upright, your own picture is upright too, and Side by side puts your guest on top and you below. Zoom, Warmth, Brightness and Microphone level are drop-down lists on a touch screen.
- Notes arrive sooner. Daily now tells your site the moment a call ends or its transcript is ready, so notes no longer wait for the next 15-minute check, even when you close the tab instead of pressing Leave.
- Waiting-room alerts from Daily too. Daily tells your site directly when someone starts waiting, so an alert still goes out if the guest’s browser could not send it, and never twice.
- Sets itself up. Press Test connection under Daily and your site registers with Daily. It needs https and a card on your Daily account. You can turn it off under Instant updates.
- Small fixes. While muted, your picture keeps its red frame instead of turning green when the microphone hears you. A long camera name no longer pushes the Microphone list off the setup card.
0.14.0
Section titled “0.14.0”- Turn a call into a website. After a call with a business owner about their website, open it on your calls page and choose Write a website brief. Claude turns the conversation into a brief for PageMotor Websites: who the business is, who it is for, the pages, the voice and the look.
- You check it first. The brief shows what the call did not cover and what Claude had to fill in, so you can see what to check. PageMotor Websites checks it too, and builds nothing yet. You can edit it before sending.
- One button sends it. Send asks you to confirm, then the owner gets an email from PageMotor with a link to start their site. Their site is built when they open it. Add your PageMotor Websites partner key and, if you have one, your affiliate code in EP Video settings, under Website briefs.
- Your AI assistant can do it too. New actions write, read, edit and send a call’s brief. Sending needs an explicit confirm.
0.13.0
Section titled “0.13.0”- Run your calls from Claude or any AI assistant. EP Video now has its own actions in your site’s API and MCP, so an assistant connected to your site can list and search your calls, read the notes and transcripts, book a call for later, rename it, set its agenda, get its calendar invite, tick off follow-ups, see every follow-up you still owe, email the notes to your guest, delete a call, and check your Daily minutes and connection. Administrators only.
- Nothing goes to anyone without your say-so. Inviting guests, emailing notes and deleting a call each refuse until the assistant confirms, so it has to ask you first.
- Needs PageMotor 0.11.5.
0.12.3
Section titled “0.12.3”- Where Rename and Delete are. Recent calls now says so: click a call to open it, and its notes, chat and transcript are there with the Rename and Delete buttons.
0.12.2
Section titled “0.12.2”- A reminder for you, the host. About 15 minutes before every scheduled call you get an email with the time, who was invited, the agenda, a Join as host link and the guest link. It comes whether or not you invited anyone by email, but not for a call you booked less than 15 minutes ahead.
- “Email it” says when. After you schedule a call, the Email it button now opens an email already addressed to your guests, with the date and time, the link, when the link opens and the agenda.
- The calls page keeps itself current. A Refresh button sits beside the heading, and the page reloads itself when you come back to it and every five minutes while it is open, so new notes and today’s calls appear. It never reloads while you have a call open on the page, are typing or are searching. Today also shows “In 9 min” or “Starting now” next to a call that is due.
0.12.1
Section titled “0.12.1”- Installing the calls page on Android. The “Keep this page one click away” card now says where Chrome on Android keeps it: the ⋮ menu, then Install and create shortcut. The keyboard bookmark tip no longer shows on a phone.
0.12.0
Section titled “0.12.0”- Today, at the top of your calls page. The calls booked for today, with their time, length and guests, and a Join and Copy guest link button for each; a call in progress shows as Now, with Rejoin. Underneath, Coming up lists the rest of the week. The card only appears when something is booked.
- Search your calls. A search box above Recent calls finds calls by any words in their title, agenda, notes (follow-ups included), guests, the people on the call or what was said. Every word you type has to be in the call; each result shows where it was found with your words picked out, and opens like any other call. Press Escape to go back to your recent calls.
0.11.0
Section titled “0.11.0”- A warning before your free minutes run out. You get an email when 80% of the month’s free Daily minutes are used, with what is left and whether you are on course to run out, and another if they do run out and Daily starts charging. Each comes once a month. Change the level, or switch the emails off with 0, under Warn me at in Settings; the minutes panel on your calls page says when the emails come.
- Noise reduction. Tick Noise reduction in Settings and EP Video asks Daily to take background noise (keyboards, fans, traffic) out of everyone’s sound on the call, using Krisp. Daily charges a little for it: $0.0002 per person per minute, about 2 cents an hour for two people. As host you can turn it off for yourself during a call, under Settings.
- Weak connections are named. When your connection drops, the call says so at the top with what helps. When a guest’s does, their call page tells them and your screen says whose connection is weak, so you know why their picture froze.
0.10.0
Section titled “0.10.0”- Data requests now include your calls. When someone asks for their data or to be forgotten, EP GDPR now covers EP Video too. It finds the calls they were invited to, were sent notes from, or booked through EP Booking, and includes the transcript, notes, follow-ups, agenda and chat in their export.
- Erasing someone removes their calls. A call they took part in is deleted along with everything kept with it, including its copy in your Brain. A call still to come that has other guests just loses their address. Nobody is emailed. A call they only hosted is kept, without their address.
- Booking calls remember who booked them, so erasure still finds them after EP GDPR has removed the booking itself. Calls booked before this version are filled in when you update.
- Give a call an agenda. Under New private call, open “Add an agenda” and write one item per line. It goes in the invitation and the calendar file, and you can add or change it later from the call on your calls page.
- Notes that follow the agenda. When a call has an agenda, its notes gain an Agenda section that goes through it item by item: what was said or decided on each, or “Not discussed”.
- Follow-ups you can tick off. The action items in each call’s notes become a checklist on that call, and the open ones from all your recent calls gather in an Open follow-ups list at the top of the calls page. Tick them off as you do them; ticks stay put even if the notes are written again.
- Replies go to an address you choose. A new setting, Replies go to, sets where your guests’ replies land and who the organiser is on calendar invitations. Leave it empty to use the email on your account, as before.
- No double email for a call booked at short notice. When a call starts within the hour, the invitation now counts as the reminder, so guests no longer get a “Starting soon” email straight after the invitation.
- Schedule a call and invite your guests. Under New private call, open “Schedule it for later and invite guests”: choose the date, time and length, and add your guests’ email addresses. They get an invitation by email (sent through EP Email) with a calendar file that puts the call in their calendar at the right time for their own time zone, an Add to Google Calendar link, and a reminder about an hour before.
- The link opens 15 minutes before the start. Until then your guest’s link says when the call begins, in their own time, and opens by itself when it’s time. You can join whenever you like.
- Your calls page shows scheduled calls with their time, length and guests, and an Add to my calendar button.
- Deleting a scheduled call sends your guests a cancellation that takes it out of their calendars.
- Your free minutes this month. The top of your calls page shows how many of Daily’s free minutes you have left this month, what that is in hours and minutes of two-person calls, how much this site used compared with the rest of your Daily account, and whether you will run out at your rate so far (and roughly when, with what it would cost after that). The figures come from Daily itself and refresh every 15 minutes, or when you press Check again. If your Daily plan gives a different free allowance, set it in Settings.
- Keep the calls page one click away. A new panel on the calls page shows how to install it as an app with its own Dock icon (Chrome and Edge, or Safari’s Add to Dock) or bookmark it with one key press. Hide it once you’re set up; it doesn’t show when you open the installed app.
- Send notes to more than one guest. Put several addresses in the To box, separated by commas. Each one is checked, and a wrong one is named before anything is sent.
- Send the notes to your guest. Each call with notes now has a Send to guest button on your calls page. It opens the email for you to check first: the guest’s address (filled in when they booked through EP Booking), a subject, and the notes with a short greeting, all of which you can edit. Nothing goes to a guest unless you press Send. The email comes from your site, and your guest’s reply comes to you. The call then shows who it was sent to and when. Needs EP Email.
- Save call notes to a Brain. A new setting under call notes saves each call to a Brain on your site, one file per call, as soon as its notes are ready: the title, date, length, who was on it, the notes and the chat, and the full transcript if you tick it. You choose the Brain and the folder (calls by default). Anything with access to that Brain, including an AI assistant connected to your site, can then draw on your past calls.
- Renaming a call updates its copy in the Brain, and deleting a call deletes its copy. Clearing old transcripts after the number of days you set does not touch the Brain copies. The setting is off until you turn it on.
- Rename a call. Open any call on your calls page and press Rename, whether the call is coming up or already over. Press Enter or Save to keep the new name, Escape or Cancel to leave it as it was, or clear it to go back to the default. Renaming a call that hasn’t happened yet also changes the title your guest sees on their page and in link previews. Your permanent room’s name is still set in Settings > Room name.
- Microphone level, with a meter and a loudness reading. Your call Settings now have a Microphone level slider (20% to 200%), a live meter, and a loudness readout in LUFS (short-term and momentary) with your peak level in dBFS, all measured on exactly what you send. If guests say you sound loud, turn it down. The level is remembered.
- Even out my volume automatically. On by default, as before. Untick it if you prefer to set your level yourself, for example with an audio interface.
- Guests can blur their background. Guests get a “Blur my background” button in the bar at the top of their call page. It is remembered on their device. It appears only in browsers that can blur.
- Clean feed. A new button on your call screen opens a second window showing only the main picture: your guest, or a screen being shared. No buttons, names or cursor. Drag it onto a second screen or a video switcher’s input (for example an ATEM over HDMI) and click it to fill the screen. It shows the video your call screen already receives, so it adds nobody to the call and costs nothing. Sound stays on your call screen: choose where it plays in Settings > Speaker.
- Keyboard shortcuts. M mutes, V turns your camera on or off, S shares your screen, C opens chat, L switches between side by side and guest large, W opens or closes the clean feed and F goes full screen. Press ? for the list. They also work while the clean feed window is in front, so a Stream Deck can press them with its Hotkey action. Typing in the chat box is never mistaken for a shortcut. Each button’s tooltip shows its key.
- Guests are told more clearly that the call is recorded. The notice on the guest’s call page is now a marked line in red with a dot: “Recorded for notes.” (or “Transcribed for notes.”), followed by the full sentence. The card a guest sees while waiting for you says the same.
- Call notes stick to what was said. The notes no longer describe the tone or mood of a call, such as calling it informal. They also refer to people by name instead of guessing whether someone is he or she.
- See what your guest sees when your camera is off. Your own picture used to say just “Camera off”. It now shows the card your guests see, with your logo and “(your name) has the camera off for a moment.”, labelled “What your guest sees”.
- Much harder to miss being muted. While you are muted, your own picture has a red outline and a red “Muted” label, and the top bar shows a red “You are muted” with an Unmute link. Click it to unmute.
- A video call for every booking and online event. With EP Booking 2.6.0 and EP Events 1.0.72, EP Video now makes the call for you. Each confirmed booking gets its own private call, and so does an online event saved without a link of its own. The link reaches your customer in the confirmation email and the calendar invite, and you join from the “Join as host” link on the booking or from your calls page.
- Each call’s link stays open until two hours after the booking or event ends, and moves with it if you change the time. Cancelling a booking or deleting an event removes its call. If the call already took place, its notes are kept on your calls page.
0.1.12
Section titled “0.1.12”- The big “will be with you shortly” card is back, and gets out of the way. A guest who arrives before you sees the large card over the call again. As soon as they click or tap anything in the call, for example Settings to check their camera, it moves to a line in the bar above the call, so it never covers what they are doing. If they do not touch anything, it moves there by itself after 20 seconds. It goes when you arrive with your camera on.
0.1.11
Section titled “0.1.11”- “Will be with you shortly” no longer covers the call. The message a guest sees while waiting for you now sits in the bar above the call, with a small pulsing dot, instead of in the middle of the call screen. It used to cover the call’s own Settings panel, where guests check their camera and microphone. It still goes as soon as you arrive with your camera on.
0.1.10
Section titled “0.1.10”- Link previews for private calls in WhatsApp. Your call links now open about twice as fast, so WhatsApp, which gives up on slow links, shows the title and picture for private call links and your room link as well as other apps do. The guest page still connects to the call the moment it opens.
- An ended link still shows its preview. If someone shares a private call link after it has ended, the preview still shows the call’s title and picture; the page itself says the link has ended.
- A natural voice for Listen, free. Turn on Natural voice under Call notes, and your Mac reads each call’s notes aloud once with Kokoro, a free open voice model, as soon as the notes are written. The Listen button on your calls page then plays that recording, with the usual play, pause and position controls. Choose from eight British voices (four female, four male) or two American ones. Nothing goes to a voice company and it costs nothing per call. It needs the EP Video helper on your Mac: run
bash install-helper.sh --voicefrom the plugin’shelperfolder to add Kokoro (about 350 MB). - A better built-in voice. Without the natural voice, Listen now picks the best voice your device has, preferring Premium and Enhanced voices, and skips the novelty ones. A voice menu next to the Listen button lets you choose another, and remembers your choice. On a Mac you can download higher-quality voices for free in System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > System voice > Manage Voices.
- Deleting a call now also deletes its recorded audio straight away, if your Mac had not yet collected it.
- Long notes scroll properly after a call. When the notes from a long call were taller than the window, the top of them (including the summary and the Listen button) was pushed off the top of the screen and could not be scrolled to. The after-call screen now starts at the top and scrolls all the way through, on a computer and on a phone. The same fix applies to the screen before you join.
- A quieter, safer Mac helper. If your Mac loses its connection to your site (Wi-Fi drops, the Mac wakes from sleep, the site restarts), the EP Video helper now writes one line saying so, and one when it is back, instead of a long error every 30 seconds. Calls waiting for your Mac are collected as soon as the connection returns.
- The helper installer only reports real problems. It used to read old errors from earlier runs and say the helper had a problem when it was running fine. It now checks only what the helper writes as it starts. It also refuses to run from the wrong folder, before changing anything, so a working helper can never be broken by a mistaken run.
- Update the helper on your Mac to get these: run
bash install-helper.shfrom the plugin’shelperfolder again.
- The main picture stays put. In a call with several people, the large picture no longer jumps to whoever speaks. It stays on your first guest, or on whoever you click in the strip, and whoever is talking gets a green frame, including you in your own picture.
- Chat during the call. A Chat button on your host screen opens a chat along the bottom. Guests chat from the Chat button in their own call screen, and everyone sees the same conversation, with links you can click. While call notes are on, the chat is kept with the call: Claude uses it when writing your notes, and it is listed under the call on your calls page. Guests are told the chat is saved.
- Clearer buttons. The buttons along the bottom of your host screen are now icons. Each one says what it does when you point at it, a green border shows what is switched on, and red shows you are muted or your camera is off.
- “Your host will be with you shortly.” A guest who joins a private call before you sees a card saying so, which goes as soon as you arrive with your camera on.
- Listen to your notes. A Listen button above your notes reads them aloud, on your host screen after a call and on your calls page. It uses your browser’s own voice, so nothing is sent anywhere.
- Names spelled right with My own Mac. The EP Video helper now tells Whisper the names of the people on the call and the call’s title, so unusual names come out spelled correctly. Update the helper on your Mac to get this.
- No more pointless retry when Daily needs a card. Daily refuses every call on an account with no card on file, whatever the call asks for. EP Video used to try the call again with notes turned off, which could never work and left notes off for a day. Now the host screen says once, plainly, that Daily needs a card under Billing, and the Join button is ready as soon as you have added one.
- Notes come back on. If an earlier version had turned your notes off for a day after a refused call, they are on again.
- Settings state the rule. The Daily setup steps now say Daily refuses every call on an account with no card.
- Settings now say a Daily card is needed. The Daily setup steps tell you to add a card under Billing before your first call, because Daily can refuse calls on an account with no card on file, with call notes on or off. The first 10,000 participant minutes each month are still free. The three steps now show on separate lines.
- The host screen no longer says calls work without a card. When Daily refuses to transcribe, the notes line now just says notes are off and that Daily needs a card on your account.
- Clear reasons when Daily refuses a call. The host screen now says why Daily refused, instead of “Could not join: [object Object]”. The usual reason is a Daily account with no card on file: Daily refused calls on such an account in our tests even with call notes off, so add a card under Billing in Daily before you start. The first 10,000 participant minutes each month are still free.
- If Daily refuses while call notes are on, EP Video turns notes off and tries once more without them, then tries notes again a day later.
- Guests are told what happened. If a call cannot start, a guest now sees a plain message asking them to let you know, instead of “You have left the call”. Guests are no longer told the call is transcribed while notes are off.
- Free, private call notes on your own Mac. A new setting, Where the transcript comes from, adds My own Mac alongside Daily. Your host screen records each person’s voice separately while the call runs, and the EP Video helper on a Mac turns it into text with Whisper, sends it back, and your notes are written as usual. It costs nothing per minute, and the audio never goes to a transcription company: it waits in your site’s protected folder only until your Mac has collected it, then it is deleted. The helper and its installer come with the plugin, in the helper folder.
- Waiting room alerts. When someone knocks on your room and you are not in it, EP Video can email you (with EP Email) and text you by iMessage (through the helper on your Mac), with a link that opens your room. If you are already in the room you just see the knock on screen as before.
- Guests stop waiting after 15 minutes. Time spent waiting counts as participant minutes on your Daily bill, so a guest left waiting is now told you could not make it after 15 minutes. Change it, or turn it off, under Room.
- Your call pages now match your site automatically. The host screen, the hub and the page guests join from take their colours and fonts from your PageMotor theme, and use your site favicon as the logo. Guests see your colours inside the call too. Fonts are always served from Bunny Fonts.
- Branding settings, to use something different. A new Branding section lets you upload a logo, pick a brand colour and choose fonts from Bunny Fonts. Leave any of them empty to keep matching your site. Colours are adjusted automatically so text stays readable on light pages and on the dark call screen.
- Link previews. When you paste your room or call link into WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack or an email, it now shows a title, a short line and a picture. Upload your own 1200 by 630 picture under Room, or keep the one that comes with EP Video.
First release. Video calls on your own site, powered by Daily.
- Your room. A permanent link (yoursite.com/meet/) you can give to anyone. Guests wait at the door until you let them in, with a chime and a “Let in” or “Deny” card on your screen.
- Private calls. A one-off link for one meeting, made from your host screen. It lets the guest straight in and works for 24 hours.
- Host screen. A camera framing studio (zoom, move, warmth, brightness, and an eye-line and chin-line guide only you can see), screen sharing, more than one guest at a time, a shared screen shown large, side by side or guest-large layouts, a self view you can drag to any corner, and full screen. It installs as an app from your browser, so your room is one click away.
- Nothing to install for guests. They join in the browser and can share their screen too.
- Call notes. The call is transcribed as it happens (guests are told), and when you leave, Claude writes a summary, the decisions made, action items with who owns them, open questions and details worth keeping. Read them on your host screen, copy them, or have them emailed to you with EP Email. Pause notes at any point for an off-the-record moment.
- Privacy. No recording is made. Transcripts and notes stay on your site for 90 days by default, and Daily’s copy of each transcript is deleted once it is saved.
- You need a Daily account (the first 10,000 participant minutes each month are free; call notes need a card on the account) and, for written notes, an Anthropic API key.
